ealth care and business opportunity were the main topics for a group of African American business and professional leaders who attended a three day wellness seminar held at Mannatech Inc., one of the country’s leading nutritional supplement companies.

“We want to identify community and business leaders who are concerned about wellness and who understand the role that prevention plays in solving America’s healthcare crisis,” said Mannatech’s Chief Executive Officer, Wayne Badovinus. The Coppell based company welcomed the group which included medical doctors, pharmacists, health care workers and business owners.

Badovinus challenged members of the group to become “wellness advocates” in their communities and to work with Mannatech in helping people reach their dreams of living healthy lives while also reaching financial independence.

“It is crucial that we get on top of issues such as wellness,” said Dr. Shino Sobanjo, an Atlanta based pharmacist and medical doctor who attended the event which was called a Leadership Summit.  “Mannatech’s emphasis on prevention is crucial to this nation as we attempt to solve our health care crisis.”

During the three day Summit participants received presentations from Mannatech scientists, researchers, business planners and associates. Its Chief Science Officer, Dr.  Robb Sinnott and its founder, Sam Caster, also made presentations to the group.

“It was thrilling to be a part of this event,” said Audrey Jones, a hospital administrator from Baltimore. “The information that we received was first class. Mannatech poured all of its resources into those of us who attended the Summit.”

Badovinus told participants that the Summit was not a one time event, but that Mannatech would continue its relationship with them well into next year and share its patented technology with other community leaders.

‘As a company we are committed to sharing our technology with every child, man and woman on face of the earth,” said Badovinus. It is a mission for us.

“I felt a sense of urgency with regard to what Mannatech is trying to accomplish in the area of health care and financial wellness in our community,” said Jim Washington, Publisher of the Dallas Weekly. “It was an eye opening experience; one that I plan to stay a part of. This is extremely important.”
