he naysayers said the WNBA wouldn’t make it 10 years. But in spite of the pessimism about this brand of basketball in the world of sports, mockery of a women’s place in ‘the game’ and unavoidable growing pains the WNBA endured, the league still holds status for social change, achievement and diversity in sports. And the hardwoods were pine-sol clean to make way for the best female basketball talents in the world to take court for the 14th season on Saturday, May 15.

ll the offseason and mid-season moves was supposed to make this Dallas Mavs team one of the elite again. General manager Donnie Nelson snagged a share of whom he felt where marquee players from other teams; surely he was under the influence of owner Mark Cuban, who’d eaten up those high salaries that came with those players, so the Mavs would be tougher than leather in the West. But the problem with all this is story still had the same ending…
Once again Dallas won’t meet the goal of winning a championship as they’ve been desperately seeking another shot at, since blowing it in 2006. After 55 regular season wins and getting the first playoff victory at home against the San Antonio Spurs, the Mavs lost three straight and eventually the series in six games. It was Dallas, not the Spurs, who played like a seventh seed, instead of the two seed positioned to meet the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Finals.

allas-based Black Gloves Promotions’ are hoping that the nurturing and development of two of their prized local boxers successfully reaches another level, in their quest to contend for world titles.
Charles ‘The Future’ Hatley faces Marcos Primera of Asheboro, North Carolina for the Texas super welterweight title, while Larry ‘Slomoshun’ Smith faces Eloy Suarez of Mexico in the Texas middleweight championship fight. The two main events, part of a six-bout care, takes place April 30 at The Palladium @ Gilley’s, 1135 S. Lamar in Dallas. The boxing line-up starts at 7:00 p.m.
