DESCRIPTION:No talking. No food and drinks. No drawing \nCome break the rules and say “yes!” to new art experiences at the Carter’s Second Thursdays! Each month you’ll find something different than the last—mingle with fellow art lovers\, make art\, and meet visiting artists\, sometimes with live music and always with themed cocktails inspired by the Carter’s collection. \nThis month\, grab a drink and put pencil to paper with this evening themed around drawing works of art in our collection. \nSchedule\n5–8 p.m.\nGrab a free sketchbook and Carter pencil to draw with all night. Supplies limited to the first 200 people. \nListen to DJ Wild in the Streets spin tunes and enjoy drinks for purchase\, including a specialty Blackberry Bourbon Smash cocktail. Carter members get one complimentary drink! Lite bites are available for purchase at the Carter’s Food Cart. \nPractice your still-life skills or draw the portrait of a stranger. Each table in the Atrium will have a different creative opportunity! \n\n5\, 6\, and 7 p.m.\nOn the hour\, we’ll meet in the galleries where Carter Community Artist Dan Jian will walk us through how to draw specific works in the Carter’s collection. At the start of each drawing workshop\, a Carter curator will share information about the artwork. \nAmerican Sign Language (ASL) interpretation may be provided during this event upon advance request. Lite bites are available for purchase at the Carter’s Food Cart. \nPaint “en plein air” on our Porch\, just like the artists in the exhibition enjoyed doing. Led by Carter Community Artist Lingchia Tsai. Supplies are limited to the first 200 people. \n5–6 p.m.\nEnjoy Prosecco\, Prosciutto di Parma\, and Parmigianino Reggiano with the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce of Texas. Jeremy Parzen\, Ph.D. of Do Bianchi blog\, will lead a lively tasting of authentic Italian products as part of IACC’s Extraordinary Italian Taste series. Food and drinks are limited and will be first-come\, first-served. \n6–7:30 p.m.\nExhibition Talk: Alex Mann\, Director of Curatorial Affairs and Chief Curator at Telfair Museums\, will talk with Carter curator Maggie Adler about how the Sargent\, Whistler\, and Venetian Glass exhibition came together. They’ll also share information about the artists’ time in Italy and how Venice inspired their artistic experimentation at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century.
