DESCRIPTION:AURORA\, the Dallas-based public arts organization founded by\nartists in 2010\, is pleased to announce the full artist list and project details for the sixth edition of the\nAURORA Biennial—the largest free public art and technology event in North Texas. Under the theme\nFuturePresentPast\, the 2024 edition will take over significant sites across Downtown Dallas on\nSaturday\, November 16\, 2024\, offering a transformative art and technology experience to all. \nCurated by Kendal Henry and Leslie Moody Castro\, the one-night event will feature large-scale\, site-\nspecific installations\, performances\, and activations by twenty-six visionary artists. Addressing a diverse \nset of societal issues such as displacement\, migration\, health advocacy\, and environmental\nsustainability\, the multimedia\, often interactive\, installations engage with social and technological\nhistories\, offering speculative visions of potential futures. From algorithmic artworks to musical\nperformances\, the Biennial projects will explore human relationships with technology and built\nenvironments\, mimicry and misinformation\, memory\, and more.\nDaniel Canogar\, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer\, and Alejandro Almanza Pereda will join the list of\nparticipating artists that includes Ciara Elle Bryant\, Jess Garland\, Doug Land\, Julie Libersat\,\nMelanie Clemmons and Zak Loyd\, Steve Parker\, Hector A. Ramirez\, Diana Rojas\, Daniel Rozin\,\nTramaine Townsend\, Marina Zurkow and James Schmitz\, and talented students from Booker T.\nWashington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas.\nA centerpiece of this year’s program is the debut of Midnight Moment outside of Times Square\,\nmarking the first time this iconic public art event has traveled beyond New York City. As the world’s\nlargest and longest-running digital public art program\, it will transform the Dallas skyline with video\nworks by Nancy Baker Cahill\, Marco Brambilla\, Zoë Buckman\, Victoria Fard\, Casey Kauffmann\,\nKambui Olujimi\, Alex Prager\, Federico Solmi\, and Tali Keren and Alex Strada. The video works will\nbe projected every half hour at key sites including Dallas City Hall\, the Dallas Public Library\, and the\nKay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center.\nIn collaboration with local partners\, AURORA has played a critical role in elevating Dallas as a cultural\ncapital for art and technology for over a decade\, attracting over 350\,000 visitors to the previous five\neditions of the large-scale Biennial. This year’s Biennial will take place across an expansive urban\nfootprint\, centered on the iconic I.M. Pei-designed Dallas City Hall and surrounding areas. DESCRIPTION:No talking. No food and drinks. No jazz. \nCome break the rules and say “yes!” to new art experiences at the Carter’s Second Thursdays! Each month you’ll find something different than the last—mingle with fellow art lovers\, make art\, and meet visiting artists\, sometimes with live music and always with themed cocktails inspired by the Carter’s collection. \nThis month\, we’re celebrating the holiday season with a night of smooth sounds and Stuart Davis. \nSchedule\n5–6 p.m.\nEnjoy a mix of jazzy holiday songs and jazz standards performed by Jeffrey Todd and his trio. Joining Todd for this happy-hour performance will be Sam Walker on guitar and Russ Allor on bass. \n5–8 p.m.\nMake your own paper snowflakes and enjoy drinks for purchase\, including a specialty cranberry poinsettia cocktail. Carter members get one complimentary drink! Lite bites are available for purchase at the Carter’s Food Cart. \nCreate an abstract ornament inspired by Stuart Davis’s rhythmic shapes in his abstract paintings. Be inspired by patterns reminiscent of jazz beats or add some holiday flair. Led by Carter Community Artist Kelsha Reese. Supplies limited to the first 200 people. \n6–7 p.m.\nGo on a tour with Carter curator Shirley Reece-Hughes to learn more about artist Stuart Davis and how jazz music inspired his mid-century painting style. \n6:30–7:30 p.m.\nListen to Stockton Helbing and his quartet as they swing you into the holiday season with classic jazz tunes.
