Dallas Mavericks Chief Executive Officer, Cynt Marshall has announced that she will retire from her position effective December 31, 2024. She will remain with the organization as a consultant through December 2025.

Mavericks governor Patrick Dumont expressed his gratitude by saying that, “Cynt Marshall is a force of nature. I like to say her superpower is bringing people together, but the truth is she has many superpowers. Cynt has always gone above and beyond in everything she has done, and her leadership of the Dallas Mavericks is no exception. She is an indelible fixture in the history of this franchise, and we are eternally grateful. The positive impact she has had here will be felt for a very long time”.

Minority owner Mark Cuban believes that making Cynt Marshall the Mavericks CEO was “the smartest decisions I’ve ever made”. Cuban added that Marshall took the organization to “new heights with grace and integrity” and that her “light will continue to shine” through her work in Dallas .

Cynt Marshall spearheaded multiple initiatives for inclusion and empowerment, including the GEM program. Girls Empowered by Mavericks started in 2020 to “engage, inspire, and empower young females through physical activity as a backdrop to their development and success”. The Mavericks amplified this message by featuring the GEM logo on the Dallas Wings’ jerseys as a part of a multi-year agreement between both teams. The Wings and the Mavs remain advocates for gender equality and supporting the next group of female leaders.

Marshall received multiple awards for her work in changing the basketball franchise’s workplace culture and its involvement in the community. Her influence on the Mavericks and the city of Dallas as a whole will be here for years to come.
