For the past few weeks (no need to mention why), Black women especially have been practically ferocious about the need to promote self-care.

Well, what if there was a way to get all the products needed for that care delivered to your doorstep? Automatically? That time has come.

After 6 years of consistently pouring into the community—and just in time for the holiday season—the brilliant team behind BetternessBox is expanding their brand with the launch of their newest product, BetternessBody, during a 3-day DFW Takeover in partnership with Charles Schwab Bank.

The series of events will kick off on Black Friday at Pur Noire Urban Wineries on Victory Park Lane, 2336 Victory Park Lane Dallas, TX 75219, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. There will be exclusive hourly self-care inspired giveaways, including a complimentary glass of wine for early arrivals.

Can’t make it on Black Friday? BetternessBody still has you covered, with pop up shops on Saturday and Sunday to cover the whole metroplex. On November 30, Small Business Saturday, they will be at Bandier in Highland Park Village, 8 A Highland Park Village, Dallas, TX 75205, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Finally, on Self-Care Sunday, December 1, they will host a pop-up shop from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Fabletics, 7400 Windrose Ave., Suite B120, Plano, TX 75024, in Legacy West. Please see the Eventbrite link for more details.

BetternessBox and BetternessBody are owned by two Black women, co-founders Kala Garner and Denise Gilmore-McPherson. The first product in their launch is “b(ahhh)dy butter,” a vegan, all-natural body butter/cream that features anti-inflammatory ingredients, a unisex scent and moisture-rich texture. The duo saw a gap in the market for products that meet the specific needs of melanated skin, including hyperpigmentation, inflammation, eczema and psoriasis, while also delivering the luxury experience we deserve.

“There is no better time than now for us to focus on us,” said co-founder Kala Garner. “We’ve built this wellness community over the past six years, but it feels like we were preparing for this specific moment in history, where Black women are starting to see self-care as a revolutionary act. It is necessary and we are deserving.”

Every BetternessBox is full of brands sourced from their supplier diversity portal to lift up other small businesses owned by Black women. Programmatically, they also feature and highlight licensed professionals in the mental health space to walk alongside their community via their podcast and aim to educate and empower community members via their annual events Wealth & Wellness and the L.I.T. Awards.

BetternessBox is also continuing to give back to the community by partnering with Lady Jade’s Project 16 to donate a portion of purchases made from 11/29 to 12/2 (in person or online) to help fund their mental health and counseling initiative Time to Talk.

“Charles Schwab Bank is proud and honored to support BetternessBox and BetternessBody as they are intent on empowering women to embrace wellness, achieve balance and become the best version of themselves every day, said Frank Espree, Diverse Markets, Charles Schwab Bank. “We are partnering together to ensure that everyone can ‘Own Their Tomorrow.’”

“Having the support of Charles Schwab Bank has been a Godsend as we prepare to launch our new product to the market in Dallas on Black Friday weekend,” said Garner. “As a small business, we know so much of the work we do to serve our customers would not be possible without a partner like Charles Schwab. The impact of their support also extends to other small businesses via our supplier diversity portal where we source products to place into our boxes and our shop! Any financial contribution we receive is the gift that keeps on giving.”
