Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (TX-30) issued the following statement in response to the news that Israel’s cabinet has approved the Israel-Hamas ceasefire and hostage release agreement, brokered by the Biden Administration, Egypt, and Qatar:
“After 15 months of devastation, the announcement of an impending ceasefire between the Israeli government and Hamas marks a crucial step toward ending the violence in Gaza, delivering much-needed aid to Palestinian civilians, and reuniting hostages with their families after more than a year in captivity. I commend the Biden-Harris Administration, along with the Qatari and Egyptian governments, for their relentless diplomatic efforts. I urge all parties to swiftly accept the terms of this agreement to bring an official end to this period of tragic violence that has affected both Gaza and Israel.
“As we acknowledge this development, we must also remember the families who lost loved ones in Hamas’s attack on October 7th, as well as the countless innocent lives lost in the conflict that followed—most of whom were Palestinian women and children. The time to end the bloodshed is long overdue. Now, the focus must shift to building a lasting peace and security for both Palestinians and Israelis. Our government must remain committed to supporting efforts that secure a just and enduring peace for all.”
