Last Friday, Dallas was treated to more than just a mealโ€”it was a masterclass in legacy, culture, and culinary excellence. The private event, โ€œMarbled, and Marked,โ€ served as the official launch for 95 Farms, a Black-owned premium beef brand rooted in generational vision and health-conscious values. The evening also marked the beginning of an exciting partnership with Makerโ€™s Mark, blending Texas ranching heritage with Kentucky bourbon craftsmanship.

The immersive five-course dinner, prepared by Chef Kevinโ€”Dallas Weeklyโ€™s 2024 Best of Black Dallas award-winnerโ€”brought together perfectly marbled cuts from 95 Farms with expertly paired Makerโ€™s Mark cocktails. Every dish told a story of faith, family, and intentionalityโ€”principles that are at the heart of the 95 Farms mission.

Founded by Vernon and Etta M. Edwards during the pandemic, 95 Farms was born from a desire to build generational wealth, reconnect with the land, and create a legacy rooted in wellness and transparency. With early guidance from family friend George โ€œUncle Pattyโ€ Payne and mentorship from Dr. Stahlman, the Edwards family purchased their first Akaushi Wagyu bullโ€”affectionately named Big Louโ€”in 2021.

The name โ€œ95 Farmsโ€ is more than a label; itโ€™s a symbol. It pays tribute to Vernon Edwardsโ€™ NFL jersey number (#95) from his time with the San Diego Chargers, representing discipline, resilience, and the quiet strength it takes to transition from the field to the farm.

Guests at Fridayโ€™s event had the opportunity to meet the Edwards family and experience firsthand the intention behind each offering. Speaking with Vernonโ€™s mother, Dallas Weekly caught an emotional moment of reflection:

โ€œI absolutely have chills just thinking about how proud I am of him,โ€ she said. โ€œWe come from a very long line of hard workers generationally. So I am not surprised, but I am just overwhelmed with pride.โ€

The familyโ€™s legacy was also celebrated by the next generation. Vernonโ€™s daughter, who is expecting her first child, shared:

โ€œI am just so proud of my parents and the work that they have put in to this vision. As I am expecting my first child, I understand the importance of legacy now more than ever. This is such a huge moment for our family and Iโ€™m very excited to pass this down.โ€

The evening was flawlessly executed by Swan7 Productions, known for creating immersive, community-centered experiences. From the visual aesthetics to the seamless coordination, the event honored both the Edwards family and the broader movement they are building.
