At the heart of South Dallas, a nonprofit community health center is helping to reshape the future of community healthcare. Prism Health North Texas (PHNTX) is an organization deeply rooted in the mission of delivering quality, accessible care to the people who need it most.
Since 1986, Prism Health North Texas has been a vital resource for families across the DFW area, currently serving over 15,000 patients through a network of inclusive and compassionate clinics. From managing everyday wellness to addressing complex health needs, PHNTX continues to expand its services to meet the evolving demands of the communities it serves—particularly in South Dallas.
Meeting the Community Where They Are
At PHNTX, healthcare is about more than just appointments—it’s about access, trust, and meeting families where they are. From primary care and pediatrics to women’s health, behavioral health, and an on-site pharmacy just steps from the South Dallas Health Center, their services are designed to work together and work for every individual. One location, many ways to care for the whole family..
Kentoria Roberson-White: Leading with Care
Behind the strength of PHNTX’s women’s health program is Kentoria Roberson-White, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, a dedicated provider who brings both expertise and heart to her practice.
Roberson-White earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Tech and went on to receive her Master’s from the University of Texas at Houston. Since 2020, she has been committed to caring for the women of South Dallas, ensuring they feel seen, heard, and respected at every appointment.
For Roberson White, healthcare is a partnership. “It’s important to find a provider you can be open and honest with,” she says. She encourages patients not to wait until something feels wrong to speak up.
From staying current on vaccinations and wellness exams to planning for a healthy pregnancy, she sees advocacy as something women should be empowered to take into their own hands—with the right support system beside them. As she often reminds patients, preventive care leads to “less time, less money, and fewer complications” down the line.
Roberson-White’s care doesn’t stop at individual visits—she’s also part of a broader network of support that connects women to community-based services, educational events, and ongoing care for their children. It’s a full-circle approach to health that strengthens not just individuals, but entire families.
Women’s Health That Puts You First
At Prism Health North Texas, women’s health is about more than exams and lab results—it’s about trust, advocacy, and empowerment. From the moment a woman walks through the doors at the South Dallas Health Center, she’s welcomed into a space that sees her fully.
PHNTX’s women’s health services are rooted in compassion and inclusion, offering routine wellness visits, birth control counseling, STI testing and treatment, and support for chronic conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes that can impact reproductive health.
PHNTX also recognizes that the experience of navigating care—especially as a Black woman—can be complex. That’s why they encourage patients to build a care team that includes not just doctors, but also doulas, midwives, or trusted advocates who can offer support through pregnancy and beyond. With connections to programs like Healthy Start, breastfeeding classes, and family health resources, PHNTX helps make sure women are supported at every stage of their lives—physically, emotionally, and culturally.
Setting the Record Straight on Reproductive Health
There’s a lot of misinformation in our communities about birth control and HPV prevention. PHNTXhealth educators, like Roberson-White, work to dismantle those myths.
“You don’t have to be sexually active to get on birth control,” she explains. The organization partners with Trust Her, a program providing free birth control to those who qualify.
Roberson-White also encourages early protection against HPV by offering vaccines for youth as early as age nine.
PrEP and Preventative Care: Protecting Ourselves, Our Way
Preventative care is still a taboo subject in many Black households—but it doesn’t have to be. Prism Health North Texas is working to shift that narrative by promoting access to PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis), a medication that significantly lowers the risk of contracting HIV.
Roberson-White stresses that HIV is not exclusive to any one community—recent data shows increasing rates among heterosexual Black women. The message is simple: protecting your health is an act of love.
Whether you’re seeking HIV or STI testing, prevention tools, or ongoing treatment, PHNTXhas an expert team committed to helping you take charge of your health with confidence.
Services include HIV testing and counseling, STI testing and treatment, and ongoing HIV care, all delivered with discretion and respect. Free condoms and testing are available at multiple locations—including Lemmon Ave in Uptown, Oak Cliff, Worth Street, and South Dallas Health Centers. Same-day appointments may be available, so call ahead to get scheduled and take that first step toward protecting your health.
Care As Unique As You Are
At PHNTX, primary care means personalized care—tailored perfectly to you. Their providers offer a wide range of services, including annual physicals, vaccinations, and preventive screenings, all designed to help you stay ahead of your health.
Their team is ready to support you through every stage of life, whether you’re managing chronic conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, or asthma, or seeking support for mental and behavioral health. They also provide specialized services such as hormone care and non-invasive orthopedics, and offer referrals for screenings like colonoscopies.
This isn’t your regular healthcare. PHNTX creates a warm, inclusive space where people of all backgrounds—including the LGBTQ+ community—are treated with respect, dignity, and care that truly fits their lives.
And why stop at individual care? At PHNTX, your entire family can receive quality, affordable healthcare under one roof. PHNTX’s integrated approach makes it easy to prioritize everyone’s wellness—kids, parents, grandparents and beyond. They truly believe in community-centered care that empowers our families to stay healthy together
