Trump and the Epstein Saga: A Tale of Lies and Conspiracy

Where to begin? Seriously. That is the question that plagues most journalists trying to cover this President. Nothing he says makes any sense. Most of what he says is too ignorant to process. And reporting on what he actually says makes him angry and eager to sue. 

Then there are the situations that just break the brain. Like the Epstein Files now being a “hoax” made up by Obama and Clinton. Oh, and also Comey for good measure. 

The Problem With The Epstein Files Hoax

This, although the whole story first blew up because of the Miami Herald’s investigative reporting about Alex Acosta? Who is Alex Acosta? At the time, he was the US Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, namely, the prosecutor who gave Epstein a deal that spared him from being prosecuted for the sex crimes he was accused of. In other words, a natural choice to be elevated to Secretary of Labor during the first Trump administration. Does anybody remember that?

Then there is the continuing issue of Ghislaine Maxwell’s incarceration. If the entire saga was nothing more than a hoax, how was she prosecuted? The jury clearly reviewed something before finding her guilty. 

And did I mention that Pam Bondi just fired Maureen Comey? After, of course, billing her as the “Epstein prosecutor” for having worked on the case? All while simultaneously begging SCOTUS to reject Maxwell’s appeal. Why? Other than to keep secret details of the alleged hoax?   

Too Much Corruption

Totally “normal” behavior for an administration that has spent every day of its existence careening from one insane situation to another, wasting tons of taxpayer dollars to troll Americans in blue states while real people are being refused help after natural disasters. 

Which is how taxpayers will end up spending $450 million a year to operate a concentration camp situated 35 miles from an existing detention facility while telling fire and hurricane victims in California to fend for themselves…only to find $134 million to waste deploying troops to Los Angeles for no reason beyond owning a news cycle. Only to use that news cycle having Knucklehead Kosplay Kristi make face noises about “liberating” Los Angeles moments before having her goon squad physically assault the U.S. Senator from California.

So Many “Fail-sons”

In a sane world, somebody would already be on trial for the assault, while Noem resigned in disgrace. But these are the openly corrupt times we live in. So she gets away with lying to our faces about not recognizing the Senator whose portrait literally hangs in the building she was speaking in. Just like how Trump gets away with acting as Putin’s PR agent at the G-7. And bragging about “possible” it is that the U.S. would interject itself into the Israel-Iran war before sending bombers into Iran to not “obliterate” their nuclear facilities. But did you see how they snuck in a news story today about allegedly “mostly destroying” one of the facilities? Why even bother to try to save face at this point? 

Not to mention all the failures the Secretary of Defense has gotten away with. Or HHS. Or Commerce, because has anybody really believed the jobs numbers coming out of this administration? Why is the May 2025 jobs number still “preliminary”? What’s the holdup? Not to mention that disposable personal income literally shrank in May. So what’s really going on? 

Can SCOTUS Be Saved?

Then there’s the gaggle formerly known as SCOTUS. Because at this point, the conservative Justices are acting more like mob lawyers, more interested in covering their own asses than providing any type of legal opinion that can be defined as “intelligible.” Seriously. There is a reason why corporate media refuses to acknowledge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s presence on the Court, let alone report on her legal opinions. They are absolutely scathing rebuttals to the ridiculous “reasoning” being spewed out to justify increasingly ridiculous rulings. Like the recent majority decision aimed at preventing federal judges from issuing nationwide injunctions on attempts to thwart federal law. How does that make any sense?  

Now I’m careening. Because that’s what happens whenever you try to focus on even one insane utterance, like Trump declaring the Epstein files a hoax after claiming that he would release them (then immediately walking it back) during his last campaign. So what was he talking about releasing? And he can’t say that nothing existed because everybody saw the “Phase 1” release back in February. 

The Real Hoax

In fact, THAT turned out to be a hoax, as the folders only contained previously released materials, including some “redacted” information that had already been unredacted previously.

Now, Trump is out here calling Republicans “stupid” and “foolish” for being “duped” by a supposed hoax that literally started during his previous administration. And those fools…are not having it. At least not yet. It’s hard to believe that the base won’t eventually quietly and tamely fall in line as they always do. After all, they’re used to Trump treating them like ignorant hicks. And lord knows, most Democrats have been openly calling them stupid since the Obama Administration. 

Don’t Fall for the Act. MAGAs Will All Cave

The simple reason: MAGAs like Reality TV far more than reality itself. They have been thoroughly groomed to ignore that difference. So, look for them to start claiming that, of course, the Epstein files are a “Democratic hoax” despite the fact that Epstein’s NPA (non-prosecution agreement) was signed during the Bush administration. Look for them to make excuses as prices continue to climb as a result of Trump’s “TACO” tariff policy. Look for more questionable job and productivity numbers coming out of this administration. 

Because they’ve shown us repeatedly that they have no trouble whatsoever lying to our faces. And that’s what makes it so difficult to cover them. Because nobody wants to amplify their lies. Yet, that is the first thing every news desk now has to consider about every claim made by this administration.
