The energy in South Dallas is electric as two historic programs โ€” The Legendary Lincoln High School Tigers and The Great James Madison High School Trojans โ€” prepare to face off in the Annual South Dallas Classic Unity Game.

Earlier this week, Dallas Weekly was on the scene as both schools gathered for a press conference and celebration, spotlighting the deep tradition, pride, and unity this matchup represents for the community.

A Tradition of Legacy and Pride

The South Dallas Classic is more than just a football game โ€” itโ€™s a cultural touchstone. Generations of students, alumni, families, and fans come together each year to honor the resilience and excellence of these two schools.

Lincoln High School Principal Lance Williams emphasized that while the Classic has long been viewed as a rivalry, this year marks a new chapter of connection.

โ€œWhat we are trying to do is set a precedent to let people know that although historically this is rivalry, we are actually unified,โ€ Williams said. โ€œThis is also the inaugural year that we are asking our young men to go to our local elementary schools and show the youth that they can get involved now with supporting one another.โ€

Game Day: Who Will Be Crowned Kings of the South?

The anticipation is building as the Tigers and Trojans prepare to battle it out under the Friday night lights. The Unity Game kicks off Saturday, September 13, at 7 p.m. at Kincaide Stadium.

The question on everyoneโ€™s mind: who will be crowned Kings of the South?

With both schools rallying behind their teams, the stands are expected to be packed with fans in purple, white, black, and gold โ€” all ready to cheer their hearts out.

More Than a Game

The Classic serves as a reminder of the strength that comes when South Dallas comes together. Beyond the touchdowns and tackles, it highlights the shared spirit of unity, excellence, and legacy that Lincoln and Madison continue to carry forward.

So whether youโ€™re shouting โ€œTurn Up Trojansโ€ or standing tall with โ€œLegendary Lincoln,โ€ one thing is certain โ€” South Dallas will be the real winner on Saturday night.
