This past Saturday, Gentlemen’s Toast convened community leaders, professionals, and supporters for a formal afternoon gala at On The Levee, honoring Black men whose impact spans industries from education to real estate. More than a ceremony, the gathering reflected an organization—and a leadership team—that is unmistakably built different.

Gentlemen’s Toast is led by Chicago native and Dallas-based advocate Dr. Lamar Quinn, whose vision has shaped the organization’s distinctive approach to recognition, mentorship, and community investment. Dr. Quinn is also the cofounder of Toast for Charity, grounding the work of Gentlemen’s Toast within a broader philanthropic framework focused on intentional giving and long-term impact.
The elegant daytime affair spotlighted honorees across multiple sectors, underscoring the many ways Black men are leading, innovating, and building equity. Among this year’s award recipients were Chris Howell, recognized for excellence in media storytelling; Willis Johnson, who earned Sales and Marketing Executive of the Year; and Scottie Smith, honored for his contributions to hospitality. Each honoree represented a different lane of leadership, reinforcing the event’s core message: Black excellence is expansive, multifaceted, and worthy of celebration at every level.

A defining moment of the afternoon was an intimate fireside chat honoring the work and leadership of Charles O’Neill alongside entrepreneur Roland Parrish. Their conversation explored purpose-driven leadership, legacy-building, and the responsibility that accompanies influence—particularly for Black men committed to opening doors for others.

As Dallas continues to evolve as a hub for innovation, development, and cultural leadership, Gentlemen’s Toast is establishing itself as a vital platform for recognition and connection. With leadership rooted in service, honorees shaping the city’s future, and a team that is truly built different, the organization is redefining what it means to honor Black men—through visibility, integrity, and sustained community impact.
