NEW ORLEANS, LA โ In a Super Bowl rematch brimming with Texas quarterback talent, the Philadelphia Eagles soared to a resounding 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. The Chiefs, hoping to cement a dynasty with a historic three-peat, saw their aspirations dashed as they fell victim to a dominant Eagles performance.
Kansas City’s offense, led by Texas Tech alum Patrick Mahomes, sputtered from the opening kickoff, producing a historically inept first half with a mere 23 yards and zero points. The Eagles, quarterbacked by former Alabama star (and Texas native) Jalen Hurts, seized the opportunity, building a commanding lead that proved insurmountable. While the Chiefs managed two late touchdowns, the outcome was never in doubt, with Eagles players prematurely celebrating with Gatorade showers.
Mahomes, despite his celebrated career, struggled mightily. He was sacked six times, fumbled, and threw two interceptions, both of which resulted in Eagles touchdowns. The typically explosive Chiefs offense was held to a single first down in the first half.

Hurts, on the other hand, delivered a performance for the ages. He threw for 221 yards and rushed for 72, scoring three total touchdowns. These included a signature “tush push” in the first quarter and a 46-yard bomb to DeVonta Smith in the third, extending their lead to a daunting 34 points.

A lone bright spot for Kansas City was their relative containment of Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, who was held to just 57 rushing yards. Even so, this performance pushed Barkley’s total rushing yards for the season, including playoffs, to 2,447โa new NFL single-season record.
This marks the second Super Bowl title for the Philadelphia Eagles, their first since 2018.
