Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. It has been an honor. The destination has been Superman, but the journey has been the toil and the laughter and the emotions and ideas and magic we’ve shared together on set – and for that I am forever grateful.”

Rumor: Mahershala Ali’s Blade Finally Getting Prioritized at Marvel

After being stuck in production limbo for what seems like forever, the MCU’s Blade is finally garnering attention at Marvel Studios, as per recent speculations. Announced in 2019, the much-awaited film has yet to receive any promising update regarding its release. Nevertheless, it is now being reported that Marvel is actively prioritizing Blade over several other projects.

Marvel’s Blade gets exciting plot and production update with new rumor

The team behind the upcoming R-rated movie Blade is reportedly looking for a filmmaker at the moment. While the project has undergone this process twice so far, things seem to be progressing better this time around.

The speculation transpired after The Cosmic Circus‘ Alex Perez provided an update on Blade in their December Discord Q&A. While shedding light on the Mahershala Ali-led movie’s possible future, Perez stated that Blade has now climbed up the priority ladder at Marvel.

“Blade’s got more priority to push out at the moment as opposed to Armor Wars. Right now, they’re just looking to find a director to direct the project,” Perez remarked. “It’s going along better than it was previously,” he added.

The internet scooper then confirmed some more details regarding the main antagonist of Marvel’s Blade. “The story now has a modern time setting, but Lilith is still the main villain and she isn’t a one-and-done villain,” he stated.

Despite the promising update from Perez, Marvel has yet to officially declare any progress regarding Blade. The movie was previously slated to come out on November 7, 2025. However, in an October 2024 announcement, Blade was removed from Marvel’s 2025 release calendar.

Marvel Studios CEO Kevin Feige has since come out to reassure fans that the project will see the light of day in the near future. In a recent interview, Feige confirmed that “the character will indeed arrive in the MCU.”

While Mahershala Ali continues to be a part of the much-delayed movie, Blade currently sits without an official release date.

Eddie Brock’s Ultimate Universe Fate Teased in Ultimate Spider-Man #12 Preview

On Earth-616, Eddie Brock eventually made his peace with Spider-Man. However, for many years, as one-half of Venom, Brock was one of his greatest enemies. Things are apparently different in the Ultimate Universe, as Ultimate Spider-Man #12 suggests that Eddie and Peter Parker are good friends.

Written by Jonathan Hickman, with art by Marco Checchetto, Ultimate Spider-Man #12 opens on a holiday party at the Parker house. Ben Parker and J. Jonah Jameson are late to arrive, with Richard Parker warning them of potential family drama. In the midst of this, he casually mentions that “Mr. and Mrs. Brock couldn’t make it,” This would seem to be a pretty clear tease of Eddie Brock and Peter being close enough to spend Christmas together.

The main cover and first three pages of Ultimate Spider-Man #12 may be viewed below.

Is Ultimate Venom on the way in Ultimate Spider-Man?

Readers may wonder if the tease of Eddie Brock in Ultimate Spider-Man could foreshadow an Ultimate Venom. Certainly, it would not be the first time Hickman teased a classic character’s introduction into the Ultimate Universe. The series has already introduced Otto Octavius in a support role to Harry Obsorn and Gwen Stacy as Harry’s wife.

Additionally, the series has teased the idea of sentient superhero suits, albeit not in the classic symbiote form. Octavius figured out a way to awake an advanced AI in the next-generation Iron Man armor he reverse-engineered for Harry and Peter. Harry asked for an AI modeled on his father, whereas Peter asked for one based on himself.

While not alien creatures, the suits effectively function in the same way as the classic symbiotes of Earth-616. It seems incredibly likely that this new suit could turn on Peter in the same way. This could lead to an Ultimate Venom, with or without Ultimate Eddie Brock.

Ultimate Spider-Man #12 arrives in comic shops everywhere on December 18, 2024.
