North Texas Observes 10 Years of D’JAM

Dallas joins the national celebration of jazz with the 10th annual D’JAM (Dallas Jazz Appreciation Month). Along with a month-long slate of live performances, film screenings and an awards ceremony, this D’JAM 2023 features the first-ever Arts District Jazz Stroll on Saturday, April 29, 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Held in partnership with the Dallas Arts District, this new free event transforms the Dallas Arts District’s Flora St. into a lively music-filled Jazz Alley with eight participating local art venues, museums, restaurants and outdoor spaces. The event is highlighted by the annual D’JAM Legend Awards Ceremony at St. Paul United Methodist Church. - Jazz at the USA Film Festival — “ELLIS”— Saturday, April 22, at 4 p.m., Angelika Film Center, 5321 E. Mockingbird Lane, #230, Dallas. FREE. Presented by the USA Film Festival and D’JAM, the event consists of a screening and a post-screening discussion conducted by Sammons Jazz Artistic Director and Steinway Artist Arlington Jones with “ELLIS” director Sascha Just and the son of Ellis Marsalis, Delfeayo Marsalis. Featured artists include Carolyn Lee Jones and the Satin Dolls at the Dallas Museum of Art, Nina Katrina Quartet at the Nasher Sculpture Garden, Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra Jazz Group at the Meyerson Symphony Center, David Slater at La Stella Restaurant, Booker T.
