Your Voice Matters!
Dear Reader,
A 2025 report from the US Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) highlights a sobering disparity: Black Americans make up nearly 28% of people waiting for a transplant, but only about 13% of organ donors. This means far too many of our brothers, sisters, and neighbors wait longer, suffer more, and sometimes donโt get the second chance they deserve.
We know the numbers โ but we donโt fully understand the why.
Thatโs where you come in. This short survey asks Black Americans to share their thoughts and feelings about organ donation. By adding your voice, you help close the gap and shape education, policy, and awareness campaigns that save lives.
It only takes a few minutes โ but the impact of your answers could be lifelong.
“At Dallas Weekly, we believe data is power โ but only when it reflects the voices of our community. This survey is more than just a set of questions; itโs an opportunity for Black Dallas to be heard in shaping healthcare equity. By sharing your perspective, you help ensure that the future of organ donation reflects our lived experiences, our values, and our right to equal access to life-saving care.” – Jess Washington, Publisher & CEO of Dallas Weekly
When you complete the survey, youโll be entered into a drawing to win one of twenty, $100 prizes!
Your views and experiences matter. Please join Word In Black in this meaningful work.
With gratitude,
