Have you seen Vanna Collins? Well if you think you haven’t, you’ve definitely seen her work. Braids By Vanna is her self-made home for both men and women for both classic and contemporary styles. Her clientele ranges from local Dallas influencers earning the admiration by celebrities like Grammy Award winning rapper Wale and Soul Train Music Award winner Summer Walker.
This weekend Vanna hosted an invite-only launch party for her product line TuffBaby’s Organic Essentials. At TuffBaby’s you are offered an array of all natural products from essential oils to sage bands. Guests at the theater style event got to take a glimpse of the founder and owner’s life. Vanna presented a heart warming short film, showing her children and love for her product line. Guests were also gifted a swag bag, enjoyed complimentary movie snacks and indulged in the photo booth.
We asked the Dallas native how she balances her illustrious 20 year career in hair styling and transition into the merchant business with her natural products.
“Early in my career, I knew then that the products that were on the market weren’t doing what I needed for my clients hair. I have always been making my own products that suited particular clients or styles. And I would have clients call from the beauty supply store asking what’s the name of the product I used on them, and I would have to inform them that they would never find it. And one day, one of my clients who is in the the business said, “You need to start selling this!” by that point I just felt it was right to make the move.”
Vanna Collins was sure let her audience know that her services always extend “beyond the chair.” As a stylist you spend a lot of time with clients discussing personal things outside of hair. Not only is she a celebrity stylist, she is also a yoga instructor. The TuffBaby’s products like varieties of sage and essential oils can be used for the body and mind.
Vanna Collins also had a surprise announcement for the audience that her products will be available for purchase at super center Wal-Mart by late summer to early fall.
The mompreneur has hit a major milestone with TuffBaby’s with the distribution deal. And with so many Black Americans making a huge shift towards healthy and holistic lifestyles, we expect to see Vanna Collins empire grow.
