Hundreds gathered at Renaissance Dallas Plano Legacy West hotel to learn the many reasons and ways to RESET their lives. This event was the brainchild of Dr. Cheryl “Action” Jackson, Founder and CEO of the award-winning non-profit organization, Minnie’s Food Pantry.

.
Oxford dictionary’s definition to reset is to “set again or differently”.
While most may know of her nationally recognized work of feeding the hungry, Dr. Jackson has more feathers in her hat. Along with overseeing Minnie’s Food Pantry in multiple locations and serving over 20 million families, she also runs Minnie’s Resale Boutique which provides hundreds of home items from clothing to couches that are donated by community partners. On top of that Dr. Jackson is a keynote speaker, award-winning social entrepreneur, author, tv host, producer and a board member of many prestigious organizations. But after a recent heart surgery procedure and a talk with her doctor, Dr. Jackson knew it was her to reset her state of mind and way of working through life.
“This conference was birthed out of one of the most painful moments in my life. As my heartbeat raced from 60 to 220 beats per minute, I was in the emergency room when the doctor told me that they had to put medication in my iv immediately or it was going to be fatal. I remember begging her to wait until a family member could arrive so I wouldn’t be alone. As thoughts raced through my head regarding my dying wishes, have I set my family up to survive without me and if I died would those closest to me know what to do, the doctor said, “Mrs. Jackson I must reset your heart immediately”. It was in that moment that I heard a voice that said not only does your heart need to be reset but there are millions of others who need to do the same thing. Their heart, mind, relationships, finances all need to be Reset. Over the next several months, I heard it speak louder. It was at that moment that The Reset Conference was born.” – Dr. Jackson

The star studded event was hosted by K104’s Dede McGuire and featured special guests like Rob Wechsler of Blue Star Innovation Partners, singer & songwriter Angie Stone and real-estate mogul and bank owner, Benisha Poole-Watson. Another esteemed special guest was hotelier Sandra Moon of the Sam Moon Group who also is the builder of the host hotel, Renaissance Legacy West.
The 2 day conference was jam packed with panelists discussing leadership, networking, a pitch contest and self-affirmation. Guests were also serenaded by local songstress Taylor Morgan. Microsoft’s philanthropy executive Darrell Booker helped Dr. Jackson present a $10,000 check to a local business in need.
The evening concluded with a fireside chat with Dr. Jackson and Cynt Marshall, CEO of the Dallas Mavericks basketball team and President & CEO, Marshalling Resources Consulting. The two shared very personal good and tough life experiences that helped guide them to their success. Cynt also mentioned her life lessons in her new book, You’ve Been Chosen. This memoir offers hope and practical guidance for navigating life’s most difficult challenges.
The event proved to be a huge success. Attendees walked away with more knowledge about self-preservation and the confidence to redirect their focus to achieve success.

Take Dr. Jackson’s advice to “forget about last week and even yesterday- give yourself permission to let go. This is your day- look around the room, your table, and look within yourself now take a deep breath and smile because you made it here! Let’s Reset.. Together!”
