FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Let’s Talk About South Dallas

Join us for some civics with a twist…of lime.

DALLAS, Sept. 26, 2022—Who says civic engagement has to be boring?

Certainly not South Dallas’ top news sources. That’s why the Dallas Weekly and Dallas Free Press have come together to invite their neighbors to a free Community Celebration and Happy Hour at the Urban Arts Center on Thursday, October 20, 2022, from 5:30-8:30pm.

Jess Washington (DW) and Keri Mitchell (DFP) will be on hand to share their takes, and get yours, about issues directly impacting the neighborhood. They’d love to have you stop by, grab a cocktail and let them know what you’d like to see and get done to improve the area.

“I’m very excited to re-engage with the community we love to serve. During the height of the COVID pandemic, we could only communicate with our supporters virtually. This is our chance to say ‘thank you’ to our community and let them know that we rely on them as a major resource as much as they look to us,” said Dallas Weekly COO, Jess Washington.

“Our work is community-powered journalism. We couldn’t do it without the wisdom and perseverance of our neighbors,” says Keri Mitchell, Dallas Free Press’ founder. “The work is never done, but this celebration gives us a chance to replenish and recharge.”

Since alcohol will be served, this event is for adults (21+) only. For more information about this event and other advertising or feature opportunities with The Dallas Weekly, contact Jess Washington at finance@dallasweekly.com or call (214) 428-8958. For Dallas Free Press, please contact Keri Mitchell at keri@dallasfreepress.com.
