On October 29th, The Afiya Center will celebrate the grand opening of their new office and future birth and wellness center and a perinatal safe spot, which is a place to connect moms, family members, community, to each other and their baby. This new space will be anchored in the southern sector of Dallas and will serve some of the city’s most vulnerable populations. Through this new space they will continue to offer innovative and timely solutions to build safe and affirming spaces, deliver culturally relevant and potentially life-changing reproductive health programs, resources, education, trainings, and leadership development through grassroots community organizing, outreach and policy advocacy. The new birth and wellness center will be staffed by community doulas and childbirth educators and will serve as a co-working collaborative space for midwives. Midwives will be able to use the space to do clinicals. Four full-time full-spectrum doulas that are part of the team will be at the future center to help with any family planning needs. Once the facility is open, touring will be available.
At The Afiya Center (TAC) we are transforming the lives, health, and overall, well-being of Black womxn and girls by providing refuge, education, and resources; we act to ignite the communal voices of Black womxn resulting in our full achievement of reproductive freedom.
