As the Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) of Dallas Weekly, in 2025 my primary goal will be to diversify and strengthen our revenue streams. I plan to expand digital subscriptions with tiered models that offer exclusive content and benefits. Community-driven advertising partnerships will be a key focus for both DW and our Word In Black cohort. Additionally, I will be focusing on monetizing events, content commerce, and philanthropic donations for the James A. Washington Foundation. I will also invest in multimedia content, such as podcasts and video series, and build collaborations with local businesses, activists, and other Black-owned media outlets to boost visibility and impact.
My strategy will center on maintaining a strong connection with our audience by producing inclusive content that speaks to the diverse experiences within the Black and Brown community. This includes in-depth investigative journalism, supporting Black businesses, and covering social justice issues. Through this approach, we will further strengthen trust and loyalty with readers, creating a foundation for new readers & long-term partnerships to ensure sustained engagement and growth.
In addition to content and revenue strategies, I will prioritize technology and data to optimize the user experience. Collaborating with community leaders, creatives, corporations, and business owners who will drive traffic to our media platform. This will include co-hosting events, panels, and roundtables that explore critical issues within the community.
Long-term, I will focus on fostering a talented team, securing grants and philanthropic funding, and Dallas Weeklyโs position as a trusted and impactful institution within the Black community. While focusing on local communities is essential, there is also an opportunity to broaden the newspaperโs reach to national and global audiences, especially on issues of immigration, civics, and Black culture. My goal is not only to maintain a 70 year legacy, but significantly improve DWโs financial sustainability and cultural relevance for many years to come.
See you in 2025!
