Here’s your BLACK PRESS FACT of the day! The first Black newspaper in the U.S. was Freedom’s Journal – It was founded on March 16, 1827, in New York City by John B. Russwurm and Samuel E. Cornish. This was the first newspaper owned and operated by African Americans, created as a response to racist portrayals of Black people in mainstream white newspapers.
