Overview:

The Dallas Mavericks' Women's Symposium, held at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science in celebration of Women's History Month, was a movement of reflection and resilience. The event, hosted by the Women of Mavs Empowering Network (W.O.M.E.N.) Employee Resource Group, in collaboration with Choctaw Casinos & Resorts, brought together thought leaders and professionals from diverse backgrounds for a day of meaningful conversation and networking. The event featured keynote speakers and engaging panel discussions, including a fireside chat with the founder of Boss Women Media & Elle Olivia, Marty McDonald, and Mavs in-arena host Ivy Winfrey. The event also emphasized intentional reflection, with attendees given journal prompts to pause, breathe, and acknowledge the delicate balance of being a woman with a career, ambition, and personal responsibilities.

Those were the words of affirmation that my spirit so divinely led me to in a room filled with powerhouse women.

There couldn’t have been a more fitting and profound sentiment to set the tone for the 2025 Dallas Mavericks’ Women’s Symposium. This year, the event was held at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science in celebration of Women’s History Month.

This event was more than just a gathering—it was a movement, a moment of reflection, and a masterclass in resilience, vulnerability, intentionality, and mindfulness.

The sold-out event was hosted by the Women of Mavs Empowering Network (W.O.M.E.N.) Employee Resource Group in collaboration with Choctaw Casinos & Resorts. Thought leaders and professionals from diverse backgrounds came together for a day of meaningful conversation and networking.

Leading with Purpose

A lineup of noteworthy speakers and engaging panel discussions provided extremely valuable insight, guided by the symposium’s theme: Leading with Purpose. Dallas Weekly attended the “Networking with Purpose: The Power of the Ask” fireside chat. Mavs in-arena host, Ivy Winfrey sat down with the founder of Boss Women Media & Elle Olivia, Marty McDonald.

Their conversation was raw, insightful, and deeply affirming. McDonald, a visionary who has built a seven-figure business, shared invaluable lessons on navigating rejection—not as a roadblock but as redirection.

This year’s amazing gift bags for attendees.

“Reframing rejection changes everything,” McDonald emphasized. “Instead of seeing it as failure, view it as an invitation to refine, pivot, and step into something greater.”

It was a message that resonated with every woman in the room. Whether a media mogul in the making or just trying to balance motherhood with corporate ambitions, the conversation reinforced the idea that success is not linear—it’s built through intention, adaptability, and the courage to keep showing up.

Mindfulness in the Moments: The Power of Reflection

Beyond the inspiring dialogue, what set this symposium apart was its emphasis on intentional reflection. Throughout the day, attendees were given journal prompts—gentle yet powerful invitations to pause, breathe, and acknowledge the delicate balance of being a woman with a career, ambition, and personal responsibilities.

Journaling became more than an exercise; it was a moment of self-connection. Questions like “How do you stay connected during challenging times?” and “What do you do to pour into yourself?” encouraged women to redefine achievement on their own terms.

A Celebration of Resilience and Community

As the event came to a close, one thing was clear: The Dallas Mavericks had created more than just a symposium—they had curated a space for growth, sisterhood, and self-discovery. Women left not just with new connections but with a renewed sense of purpose, armed with tools to navigate their careers and personal lives with resilience, vulnerability, and mindfulness.

Words of affirmation from successful women echoed throughout the space. And on this day, in this room, every woman was reminded that her greatness is not just something to strive for—it’s already within her.
