Schmitz joined the Blazers in May of 2022 after serving as a draft analyst for ESPN since 2017. He has also worked as an assistant coach for the Ugandan national team since 2018 and traveled extensively around the globe as a scout for DraftExpress since 2012. Schmitz worked as a video coordinator for the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA G League during the 2012-13 season. He is a 2012 graduate of the University of Arizona.
